The Edexcel IAS Physics (XPH11) course consists of three examination units:

Unit 1 and Unit 2

Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes each
Marked out of 80 points
May include multiple-choice, short open, open-response,
calculations, and extended-writing questions

Unit 3

Duration: 1 hour 20 minutes
Marked out of 50 points
May include short-open, open-response, calculations, and
extended-writing questions

The weighting of the units is as follows:

Unit 1 and Unit 2: 40% each of the International AS, 20% each of the International A level
Unit 3: 20% of the International AS, 10% of the International A level

The course content is divided into five main teaching topics:
