Course Overview

This course is over a period of 30 weeks including revision. There are 2 x 1-hour lessons per week excluding school holidays.

All lessons are presented securely online via Zoom. Students are given unique access links during their designated lessons.

My lessons are fun, interactive and have a clear structure. They start with an introduction to the topic and how it relates specifically to the syllabus. The relevant content is then taught using engaging PowerPoint slides, animations, videos, practical demonstrations and funny and relatable anecdotes. Students have their understanding tested during lessons using topic-specific examination booklets. Lessons are wrapped up by showing students that what they have learnt relates directly to the syllabus and hence examinations.

Students are quizzed regularly and tested after significant syllabus coverage. Tests are either made up of written or multiple-choice questions. Students are welcome to join me online 15 minutes prior to, and after, lessons for some one-to-one support. They are also welcome to email/WhatsApp me out of lessons.

Course Specifics

AQA GCSE Physics (8463)

Students are entered for two examinations, Paper 1 and Paper 2 which contain Foundation and Higher Tier material.

Each paper is 1 hour 45 minutes long and is marked out of 100. Each paper is worth 50% of the total GCSE.

Paper 1 assesses topics 1-4 and Paper 2 assesses topics 5-8 with assumed knowledge of topics 1-2.

The content is split into eight teaching topics 1-8:

• Topic 3: Particle model of matter
• Topic 4: Atomic structure
• Topic 5: Forces
• Topic 6: Waves
• Topic 7: Electricity and electromagnetism
• Topic 8: Space physics
